Latex Grenade Begins Recording Process of Full Length Album Next Week
Following the Labor Day Weekend with shows at The Ruby Room in Hill Crest, Friday, September 2nd, and The Roxy Sunday, September 4th, Latex Grenade will set out to record their first full length album labeled, Going Green. Currently, they are looking into a late Fall to early Winter release date. Their last release, last August, The EP, featured singles, “Tits On a Stick”, “Broken Sacrifice”, and “No Way Out”.
This young San Diego rock band has some big things in store for their fans on this upcoming album. The Title of the album, Going Green, was inspired by looking at the unethical things that corporate America has partaken in over the past decade. The title, Going Green, is expressed as an irony. The term, “Going Green”, in contemporary society is looked at as an entity taking strides to reduce their negative impact on the planet as much as possible. The album title, Going Green, is a call to action accusing Big Business of “Going Green” for money and profit at the sacrifice of the environment and human livelihood. The song, “Going Green”, begins with:
This is what we are; Thirst for millions of paper notes that say, “In God We Trust”
Here’s Geoff talking about the new album:
We are really excited to be able to push something out that we are satisfied with. We are going to try and make this thing perfect. This album is extremely personal, reflecting the adversity that we have overcome this far in our journey, and merely on a personal sense, it means a lot to us.
With the world population at an all time high, it is even more crucial than ever to preserve our planet and human livelihood and it just simply makes me sick to see the BP Gulf Oil Spill happen; especially knowing that BP took shortcuts with inspections and safety requirements to save money. Two months later, we find that there is another platform in the Gulf with similar problems. This spill wasn’t even close to other spills around the world in the past 20 years, either.
I want to make one thing clear. This is not just about the environment. Lets take the BP oil spill for example. One shortcut that was taken by a massive corporate firm (BP), not to mention, at a time of American economic recession, absolutely crippled an entire region in the United States for a lengthy period of time, and after shocks from this are still being felt today. This short-cut BP took crushed multiple industries from the fishing industry to the tourism industry causing millions of Americans to sink even deeper into economic instability. We are in a time where congress is fighting more than ever to reduce regulation of big business and we have companies like British Petroleum and hundreds, if not thousands, of others that act unethically even under regulation. Are you kidding me? How can they be trusted to regulate themselves when income statements and balance sheets is all they are concerned with? There are many more catastrophes that have happened in the past decade, but this is the most popular.
On a happier note, this album will have all new songs on it and will define our sound. This album is Latex Grenade. We feel that our fans will be really stoked on it. I can’t stress enough how important feedback is to us. We would love to hear your input.
I really hope that fans can find this album inspiring to them. If I can inspire just a hand full of people, giving them hope and a positive view of life through my lyrics, then I have succeeded. There are some spots on this album that are so incredibly relevant with my life’s journey that I almost get teared up when talking about their meanings and importance. I hope that people can relate with me and our sound and really take this album to heart.
We are going to try our best to document the entire recording experience so that we can keep our blogs updated with fresh article and cool videos. Stay tuned! Peace.
